Territories,  Cities,  Environment  &  Society  research  unit  is  joint  research  unit  between  Lille  University  and University of Littoral Côte d’Opale (ULCO): http://tves.univ-lille1.fr/. It is a multidisciplinary team in human and social  sciences  and  combines  many  disciplines:  geography,  territorial  planning,  sociology,  economy, management, and politics. The research unit is composed of 60 permanent members including 55 Full professors, readers  and  Associates  professors,  4  technical  staff  and  75  contractual  staff  (including  55  PhD  students).  The grouping of the Lille 1 and ULCO teams led to the constitution of a regional social sciences research centre into urban space, urban dynamics, territories and the environment. The unit’s name accounts for its scientific object. Two  research  axes  structure  a  number  of  themes  which  are  being  investigated  by  current  teams:  1)  Urban mutations and territorial development: planning, mobility, attractiveness and boundaries 2) Environment, risks, nature and society: hazards, biodiversity, maritime and coastal territories. TVES has been founded in 2006. TVES includes one technical platform in cartography and geomatics. TVES interacts with the MESHS (Maison européenne des sciences de l’homme et de la société), which gathers the scientific activities of 34 laboratories in the Hauts-de-France region.
